October

A month of leaving and arriving. I’m after Your heart, you’ve stolen mine. Of gratitude that He takes us from glory to glory, grace to grace. A month of tracing constellations from my window, of the wind in my face off the sea. Of listening to Maranatha music, which has always sounded to me like the music of the coming kingdom. For the friendship of God is with those who fear Him. Of walking quiet streets that slope straight down to coastal cliffs, hot coffee in hand. The month that a sliver of moon hung high in the sunset sky, of early mornings and learning my way around a whole slew of new towns and streets and places. Of chilly walks and howling coyotes in the dark of night. You’re the only part of me that’s good. A month of quiet and change and the promise of more yet to come. How patient He is with us as we falter our way through this life. Sing if you’ve known His grace. A month of following the Shepherd wherever He goes.

“Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.” – Psalm 119:54
